| Triple State Champ - wow! |
Hi! This is Averi. She is a pretty cool kid. She is smart, funny, creative and super sweet and friendly, too. Of course, I am her mother, so you might think that I have to say that, but I think there are many people who would be very quick to agree with me. Great, it's settled then!
Averi has had an interesting year. To begin with, she had to move away from the home and all of the friends she loves so much. This made her very, very sad. Averi is also homeschooled, so she wouldn't have school as a way to meet new friends. So when we moved, we signed Averi up for some community activities to meet people and have some fun. She chose gymnastics, tumbling and dance, to start with.
Averi loved all of these things from the very beginning. As it turned out, she had a real natural ability in them, too. She is a fast learner and a really hard worker. She joined the tumble team and started competing in USTA Power Tumbling.
We didn't really know what to expect, but we knew that Averi always gives things her all. Turns out, she was a champion from day one! Throughout the regular meet season Averi took 9 first places, 5 second places, 2 third places and 1 fourth place (she got robbed there, for realz!) She was usually competing against 10-15 people.
She worked hard to sharpen her skills before going to the state championship meet. We were confident that she was even better than she had been throughout the year. Well, she was on fire and took 1st place in every event, bringing home the 'triple crown'!!! We were so excited and proud, and so was she!
We will be heading to Nationals in about 10 days and we are a little nervous and very excited. She is already working on her skills and moving up levels for the next season. We are planning on sharing her information, videos and pictures here.
She also put her heart and soul into learning ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop this year and has really done so very well there, too! We think she is going to join the competitive dance team for next year, too. We are keeping a very full plate for her, but we count this as part of her homeschooling credits, and she loves every minute of it.
She is making some really great new friends and we couldn't be happier about that. She still really misses all her friends back in Texas and always asks when we will get to go back and visit, but she keeps in touch and loves them just as much as she ever did. Hopefully we will get back there sometime this year, but in the meantime, everyone can keep up with her here!
Here are some highlights from this year. Some of the video footage is raw, and I apologize in advance for that, but you can still get the gist! I cannot get many of these videos to upload, so I have to leave you with what has worked, for now. I will keep working on the others in the meantime.
